Best real estate website for agents: a shortlist of four routes
There is no single best site. Four routes cover most choices, each read from the vendors' own pages on October 29, 2026:
- Vendor-built platform: AgentFire designs and hosts the site, with IDX included in the monthly plan.
- Self-serve builder: Placester offers an AI site builder on agent plans with a free trial.
- Bundled platform: Real Geeks and Luxury Presence sell the website as one part of a package with other tools, which moves into CRM and ad territory outside this site's focus on websites and IDX.
- IDX add-on: IDX Broker sells listing search for a site you already have, and a higher plan that includes a designed, hosted site.
Criteria to compare: cost layers and what each vendor states
- AgentFire: a one-time design package plus a monthly plan, IDX included, no long-term contract, and a site that cannot be exported.
- Placester: monthly agent plans with a 14-day free trial and no contracts, plus a monthly IDX support fee for each approved MLS integration.
- Real Geeks: one platform price that bundles the IDX website, a CRM and marketing tools, a one-time setup fee, a monthly charge per MLS board, and commitment terms of six months, twelve months or annual.
- Luxury Presence: four packages with a designed website, MLS integration and IDX search, all on a 12-month agreement with the setup fee collected upfront. The plans page shows no plan amounts and says the setup fee varies.
- IDX Broker: monthly IDX plans for a site you already own, including a WordPress plugin, and a higher plan that adds a designed, hosted website.
Trade-offs: how the routes differ on MLS fit and portability
MLS coverage varies by region and no route covers every board. AgentFire publishes a state-by-state coverage list, IDX Broker links an MLS coverage section from its home page, and Placester's help center tells you to confirm your MLS with its team. Ask each vendor in writing which feed you would get.
Portability is the second trade-off. AgentFire says the complete site cannot be exported, so leaving means a rebuild. A site on a general host with a separate IDX moves more easily but takes more of your time. Whatever you pick, Google uses the mobile version of a page for indexing and recommends responsive design, so check the site on a phone. The Justice Department's web accessibility guidance says automated checkers and overlays can be helpful but a clean report does not necessarily mean a site is accessible, so ask each vendor how it handles accessibility.
Fit by situation: which option suits which agent
- A solo agent who wants a branded site built for them: start with AgentFire and run the three-year sum in the AgentFire pricing guide.
- An agent who wants to edit the site personally: Placester's 14-day free trial lets you see the editor first.
- An agent who already has a WordPress or other site: an IDX-only plan such as IDX Broker adds listing search without a rebuild.
- A team that wants a CRM and ad services in one package: Real Geeks or Luxury Presence fit that shape, but they sit outside this site's focus on websites and IDX.
- An agent still unsure whether to hire a build: how to build a real estate agent website sets out the order of work.
Switching providers: what to plan for during a migration
Moving from an old site to a new one involves four checks. First, redirects: AgentFire's help desk says you may benefit from 301 redirects from old addresses to keep search value. Second, DNS: propagation can take up to 48 hours, and email hosting stays with your own provider. Third, leads and saved searches: AgentFire says it cannot bulk import leads with their listing alerts and points large databases to a CRM or specialist tools. Fourth, fees: its rate list includes an IDX switch charge and other one-time change fees. Ask any vendor on your shortlist the same four questions, and read AgentFire vs Placester for a worked comparison.
How to read best-of lists, this one included
A best-of list written by a vendor favors its author. This guide reads each vendor's own pricing and help pages, dates them and says where a page is silent. Customer results quoted on vendor pages are the vendors' own statements. When a link on this site becomes a paid referral link, the page discloses that connection before its first recommendation, in line with the FTC's endorsement guides on disclosing material connections. The AgentFire review applies the same method to one vendor.
